An unlimited government, also known as an authoritarian or totalitarian government, is a form of government where the ruling authority has absolute and unchallengeable power over the citizens and society. Citizens have limited or no rights, and the government can control most aspects of their lives, including their right to freedom of speech, assembly, press, or religion. The government also controls the economy, media, and social and cultural institutions. The leaders of an unlimited government are often not accountable to the people and have no checks and balances to prevent them from abusing their power. They may use force, propaganda, and censorship to suppress criticism and opposition. Examples of countries with unlimited governments include North Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, and Cuba.
